Salvaging the Capt Van

August 2012
Wilmington River, Savannah, GA

Another sad end for a Georgia shrimping boat. In July 2012 the vessel had caught fire, rolled over and sunk at the Ambos Seafood dock in Thunderbolt. Eventually they towed it to the boat ramp on the Islands Expressway near Causton Bluff. They beached the boat off to the side of the ramp and began taking her apart. I got this shot the moring after they towed the boat there. The main rigging was gone but the rest of the boat was pretty much intact. They also broke apart the Justin Bradley , which had caught fire at the boat ramp in 2011.
